Religiously Involved with as a child? You're probably not an Atheist.

Using data obtained through the 2021 Childhood Experience and Religious Affiliation Survey (n=3079), respondents were separated into affiliation-groups. It was found that those who identified as atheists were less likely to have had parents who prayed, meditated, went to a place of worship with or who said grace before meals. One may suggest that this is due to present atheists being raised atheist; however out of the 870 who identified as atheists at the time of the survey only  12.87%  were raised atheists.  Graphs available below.  Table of Context I.) Prayer II.) Meditated III.) Place of Worship IV.) Saying Grace V.) Religious Involvement Averages  I.) Wiccan/Pagans Less Likely to Have Attended Worship With Parents As Children

Image
Wiccans/Pagans were the least likely to have gone to a place of worship with their father, or mother "a few times or more" as children. The colours indicated affiliation at the time of the survey, and do not necessarily indicate the type of place of worship attended. Respondents were asked in two separate questions about a short least of spiritual/religious activities which their father/mother joined them with "a few times or more" during their childhood. It may be of interest to the reader that 72.34% of Wiccans/Pagans (n=141) were Canadian, in contrast to 18.09% of the everyone surveyed (n=3079).

Parental Prayer, Monotheistic Religious Adherence Found to Correlate

Image
Notable correlations were found between people adhering the Protestant, Catholic or Orthodox faiths and paternal, maternal prayer involvement when they were children.  Meanwhile, Pagans/Wiccans and Atheists tended to not have been prayed with relative to those who adhere to the major Monotheistic faiths.  Respondents were asked in Q7 "Throughout your childhood did your father do any of the following with you a few times or more? (Check all that apply.)" One of the options was "Pray with you". A similar question was asked regarding respondent's mothers in question 9.  This is consistent with CRED theory which says that Credibility Enhancing Displays increase the likelihood that the behavior will be imitated into the future. Speculatively, it's plausible that parents who pray with their child also exert higher social pressure to maintain their adherence.
